French Shopping is an essayistic fiction. It proposes a perspective from which shoplifting could be taken out of its illegal essence, to become a tool, an archetype exploring public space as a territory of consumption. An anti hero, crossing rules, laws and protocols of both social and economical models.

The reader is made complicit from the very beginning, convinced of the urgency to consider ‘shoplifting’, not only a theoretical subject, but also a craft. In this essay, I show my interests, deeply rooted in artistic concerns about textures, material qualities and methods of practice.
